Statement by the President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, in the "Nelson Mandela Peace Summit”

Mrs. President:

We are so happy and take comfort in the fact that the United Nations General Assembly is convening a peace summit, and that such summit has been named after Nelson Mandela.

Less than 30 years ago, beloved Madiba was a political prisoner in the apartheid jails, serving a life sentence as a result of his noble struggle for justice and equality among all men and women in South Africa, where a white minority was subjecting the black majority to the scorn of segregation.

Ambassador of Cuba in Mongolia expresses condolences to Vietnam for the death of its President.

Ulan Bator, September 26, 2018.- The Ambassador of Cuba in Mongolia, Raúl Delgado Concepción, arrived at the Vietnamese Embassy in Mongolia to offer condolences on behalf of the people and Government of the Island for the recent death of the president from that brother country, Tran Dai Quang.

Díaz-Canel addresses the Nelson Mandela Peace Summit

Addressing the UN as part of the Nelson Mandela Peace Summit in New York this Monday, September 24, President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez began by noting Cuba’s pride on having supported the struggle against apartheid in South Africa, and recalled the iconic embrace between the Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro and the anti-apartheid leader, Nelson Mandela, who visited Cuba in 1991, shortly after his release from prison.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Exmo. Mr. Abdulaziz Kamilov, received at the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, Ana Teresita González Fraga, who makes a bilateral visit to this Central Asian nation.
In the meeting with the Uzbek head of state, which took place in a climate of cordiality, both sides exchanged about the state of the bilateral agenda in several important areas of common interest.
