UN High Commissioner Urges End to U.S. Coercive Measures Against Cuba

Geneva, June 8, 2026.- The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, on Monday urged the immediate lifting of the sanctions imposed by the United States against Cuba, warning that their expansion is causing serious humanitarian consequences and endangering the lives of the Cuban people.

On June 5th and 6th, the Ambassador Juan Carlos Marsan Aguilera participated in the 3rd India-Latin America and Caribbean Business Forum 2026, organized by the Global India Business Forum (GIBF) and the government of Madhya Pradesh. Fifteen embassies and more than 250 local companies and businesses participated.

 

Cuba, the GAE and the United States: anatomy of a state slander

The GAE is not an opaque structure, nor parallel to the Cuban State; on the contrary, it has been an articulated response of proven efficiency against the economic blockade that has historically tried to suffocate the Cuban Revolution.

The United States government has once again acted with premeditated intent in its eagerness to create pretexts to discredit the Cuban Revolution, its historical leadership, its leaders, and thereby confuse both our people and international public opinion.
