Latin America and the Caribbean is today the scenario of persisting threats, inconsistent with the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace signed by the Heads of State and Government at the Second Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States in January 2014.

The Government of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas was saddened to learn of the recent tornado in the Republic of Cuba that occurred late Sunday, 27 January, 2019 and which affected low-lying municipalities in the capital city of Havana. We regret the loss of life, injuries and widespread structural damage that resulted from this natural disaster.
Ottawa, January 28.- Canadian intellectuals and friends of Cuba, Arnold August and Keith Ellis, will be representing Canada at the IV International Conference for World Balance, which is being held in Havana from January 28-31, with over 600 delegates from 62 countries attending.
The scientific program of the Conference includes a wide range of spaces to discuss on topics like education.
Port of Spain, January 28th – The Alma Jordan Library of the University of the West Indies (UWI) of Trinidad and Tobago, served as host of a small but moving event in tribute to Jose Marti on the occasion of the 166th anniversary of his birth.
The event in tribute to the Master, was done in collaboration between the Library and the Cuban Embassy which was headed by Mr. Frank Soodeen, Head Librarian of the Alma Jordan Library and the Ambassador-designate, Tania Diego Olite. Also, present was, the staff of the Cuban Embassy, members of the solidarity and social movements with Cuba, Trinidadian personalities and members of the Cuban community in the Caribbean country. All united by the common feeling of honoring the most universal of Cubans, his work and prodigal thought.
Kuala Lumpur, January 28- The Embassy of Cuba in Malaysia was the venue for the commemoration of the 166th anniversary of the birth of José Martí, Cuba's national hero.
In her words before the mission's work team, the ambassador Ibete Fernández Hernández, highlighted José Martí's legacy for the Cuban Revolution and the validity of his ideals. She recalled that in a complex scenario in which Latin America lives today, it is necessary to return to its sentences on the danger posed by US imperialism and the need for the union of its peoples to stop it.
