The Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) on Friday bestowed the Friendship Medal to Bill Ryan, an active Canadian member of the Solidarity Committee for the Liberation of the Cuban Five.

Cubasí, 15 December 2018. Cuban President, Miguel Díaz-Canel, highlighted today how essential is unión for the peoples and referred to the meeting held here by the Bolivarian Alliance of the Peoples of Our Americas - Trade Treaty of the Peoples (ALBA-TCP).

The Trump administration has closed the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services office in Havana, as of December 10, requiring Cubans to travel to the office in Mexico City to acquire visas to the U.S.

The meeting is being held within the context of the bloc’s 14th anniversary.  

The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Georgia, Alfredo Nieves Portuondo, participated in the inauguration of the new president of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili.
The new president was sworn in after being elected with 59% of the votes in the elections held at the end of November.
Attendees from dozens of countries attended the swearing-in ceremony.

And the government has premised its 2019 economic plan on, “the basic premises of not taking on more debt than we are capable of repaying.”

During the work visit, the Cuban diplomat learned about the technological advances of the industry and the interest of his managers in establishing contacts with Cuban counterparts.
