High Commissioner of The Bahamas to the Caribbean Community points out current regional challenges

THE BAHAMAS, 26 February 2016. - The Ambassador of Cuba to the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, Ismara Vargas Walter, met with the High Commissioner of The Bahamas to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Mr. Picewell A. Forbes, also a Member of Parliament.

During the meeting, both parties discussed various topics of interest, in particular on the importance of continuing the dialogue CARICOM- Cuba.

Prime Minister and Foreign Minister shared activities of the 50th Anniversary of Independence with the Diplomatic Corps.

The Right Honorable Prime Minister, Freundel J. Stuart, and the Honorable Senator Maxine McClean, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, accompanied by other senior government officials and the Barbadian Foreign Ministry made a breakfast meeting with the diplomatic corps in the country in Accra Beach Hotel, located precisely in the constituency that the Prime Minister represents in Parliament. During the activity was shared with diplomatic representatives of different countries planned events to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Independence in the coming months.

Cuba is invited to participate in the Caribbean Conference on Alzheimer.

President of the Barbados Alzheimer's Association, Pamelia Brereton, invited its counterpart from Cuba to attend the Second Caribbean Conference on Alzheimer's and other mental illnesses. Dr. John J. Llibre, president of the Cuban Section of Alzheimer attended the event held at Bridgetown from February 23 to 25, which was also attended by executives and experts from the region, being inaugurated by the Minister of Development social, Hon. Steven Blackett and a high rank representative of the International Alzheimer Society.

The Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India receives the Cuban Ambassador.

New Delhi, Feb. 25. The Ambassador of Cuba in India, Oscar Martinez Cordovés, held a working meeting with Mr. Manish Singhal, Deputy Secretary General of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (FICCI) and other senior officials of that institution, with the aim to review the economic, trade and cooperation between the two countries and the possibilities to develop the ties in a short-term.

 

Ambassador of Cuba in India pays tribute to 24 February at University of Delhi.

India, 25 February 2016. The Students and Faculty members of Hispanic Studies of the Department Germanic & Romance Studies, University of Delhi, organized yesterday in that institution a seminar on 'Latin America Today', with particular reference to Cuba. The activity was attended by the ambassadors of Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador and Venezuela as keynote speakers.

Minister of Foreign and Caricom Affairs of Trinidad and Tobago calls for the strengthening of bilateral relations with Cuba.

Port of Spain, February 24th 2016 - The Minister of Foreign Affairs and CARICOM Trinidad and Tobago, Dennis Moses, spoke in favor of strengthening relations between Cuba and his country during celebrations for the 57th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution and the 40th anniversary of the 1976 Constitution.

 

India ratifies desire of its Government to strengthen bilateral relations with Cuba.

India, February 22, 2016. The Joint Secretary of Latin America and Caribbean Division at the Ministry of External Affairs of India, Mr. Ashok Das, received the Cuban ambassador in this country Oscar I. Martinez Cordovés.

During the cordial meeting, both diplomats assessed the issues and areas where there are opportunities to move forward the ties of cooperation for the development of bilateral relations.

Wellington, February 15, 2016. In a brief meeting with the Ambassador of Cuba, Mario Alzugaray, Kiribati President Anote Tong, praised the cooperation that Cuba develops with the Pacific Islands, in particular the scholarships for medical studies provided to young i-Kiribati in universities across the Caribbean island, as well as the work of Cuban doctors in this nation and its impact on the improvement of its health indicators.
