UN experts condemn US executive order imposing fuel blockade on Cuba

UN human rights experts today condemned the executive order issued by the US president on January 29, 2026, which declares a supposed national emergency and authorizes the imposition of trade tariffs on oil imports from third countries to Cuba.

“The U.S. executive order imposing a fuel blockade on Cuba is a serious violation of international law and a grave threat to a democratic and equitable international order,” the experts stated.

African Union Approves Resolution Against the Blockade on Cuba

Opposition Leader of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines receives Cuban ambassador.

Kingstown, 16 February 2026 - The ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Carlos Ernesto Rodríguez Etcheverry, held a meeting with the opposition leader, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves.

During the meeting, the Cuban diplomat updated the opposition leader on the situation in Cuba, relations between Cuba and the United States, as well as the main challenges the island currently faces, in which there has been a strengthening of the US blockade against the island, which has led to a serious crisis in the field of electricity generation. Both sides also exchanged views on the regional and international situation, marked by major political, economic and social challenges.

Dr. Ralph Gonsalves reiterated his solidarity and support to the people and government of Cuba in this moment of particular difficulties, and expressed his wish that the situation on the island return to normality as soon as possible.

On the occasion of the 173rd anniversary of José Martí's birth, we participated alongside Latin American embassies, the Spanish Embassy's Education Office, the mayor of the town, among others, in a tribute ceremony held at the high school named after him in Bielany, Warsaw.

During the event, the guests highlighted the importance of Martí's teachings in our times, on issues such as education and his call for unity among peoples.
