Sunday, 16 March:- On a solemn and inspiring afternoon at Highgate Cemetery, the Cuban Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Ismara Mercedes Vargas Walter, stood as the principal speaker at the Marx Oration 2025, paying tribute to the enduring legacy of Karl Marx and reflecting on Cuba’s ongoing commitment to social justice and solidarity.
On March 15, the Cuban spirit of solidarity and resilience was celebrated at the Cuba Vive Medical Appeal event held at Warwick. Organized by the Cuba Solidarity Campaign and supported by the National Education Union (NEU), the evening brought together friends of Cuba to raise funds for vital medical supplies, while enjoying a vibrant night of music and shared purpose.
The Cuban Embassy was proudly represented by Press Counsellor Orestes Martínez García, who conveyed the Ambassador’s gratitude to the organizers and participants for their unwavering support.
Cuba has long been a dedicated ally to the Caribbean nations, contributing significantly to the region’s social and economic development. The island has provided support in various sectors, especially in healthcare, where Cuban doctors, nurses, and medical professionals have volunteered their expertise across the Caribbean. Thousands of Cuban-trained medical personnel have helped improve the health sector in nations that otherwise might not have the resources for such care. In addition to healthcare, Cuba has provided scholarships for Caribbean students, enabling many to receive higher education in a variety of fields.
The St. Kitts and Nevis Cuba Friendship Association stands in solidarity with the Government and people of Cuba. We call on the people of the United States and the world to resist this new hardship that the Government of the United States wants to place on Cuba and the people of St. Kitts and Nevis and the Caribbean.

Harare, 18 January 2025- The Zimbabwe Anti-Sanctions Trust today reiterated its solidarity with the people of Cuba in facing the challenges of the prolonged economic blockade imposed by the United States.
We recognise that while steps have been taken to ease some sanctions, such as the removal of the unjust list of countries sponsoring terrorism, they fall short in addressing the fundamental rights and freedoms of Cubans, emphasises a statement released in this capital.

Within the framework of the activities for the working visit to Saint Kitts and Nevis of the senior official of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, Tamara Armenteros Alcee, the radio station Freedom FM dedicated a space on this Wednesday afternoon, to discuss the solidarity movement with Cuba that is rising in this Federation. It was an special occasion provided by Freedom FM so that the warm greetings from Cuba and gratitude for the historical accompaniment, reach each resident of St Kitts and Nevis, by the voice of Tamara Armenteros.
The Permanent Secretary of the Foreign Ministry of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Ms. Kaye Bass, offered a warm welcome to the official of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, Tamara Armenteros Alcee, who is on a working visit to the Federation, accompanied on this occasion by Ambassador David Rivero Pérez.
Both parties agreed on the excellent ties that unite these Caribbean nations in which cooperation and mutual support contribute to their continuous strengthening.
