Barbados celebrates, as it does every year, the “Last Canes” and kicks off the “Crop Over”

In Barbados, the "Last Canes" or "Ceremonial Handing Over of the Last Canes" marks the end of the sugarcane harvest season and the beginning of the Crop Over Festival, Barbados' largest and most vibrant national festival, which celebrates the island's rich history and culture, especially the tradition of the sugarcane harvest.

Barbados celebrated the Small Islands Future Festival: SIFF 2025

On June 20 and 21, the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus hosted the Small Islands Future Festival: SIFF 2025. A two-day, family-friendly, free festival where the Barbadian community comes together to celebrate sustainability, innovation and island pride. This event highlights how small islands are creating a greener, more resilient future. The festival includes exhibits, children's activities, food, raffles, and cultural and recreational activities.

Cuban delegation attended the Academic Forum on care policies in the Caribbean, held in Barbados.

Dr. Miriam Nicado García, Rector of the University of Havana and Dr. Antonio Romero Gómez, President of the “Norman Girvan” Caribbean Chair of the University of Havana, were part of the Cuban delegation that attended the Caribbean Academic Forum: “Contributions to the XVI Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean: Moving Towards Caring Societies”, held at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus in Barbados (UWI), on March 25 and 26 of this year.

Cuban athlete participates in the I Americas Junior Championship - Shotgun 2025 Bridgetown, Barbados

Members of the Cuban State Mission in Barbados attended last March 9, 2025 the I Americas Junior Championship - Shotgun 2025, held from 9 to 13 in Bridgetown, Barbados, to see the performance of the young Cuban athlete Miguel Alejandro Hernandez Bravo, only 15 years old.
