Statement to the press by the Director General of the United States, Josefina Vidal Ferreiro

 

The State Department announced Friday that it will withdraw more than half of the staff from the US embassy in Cuba after the "incidents" reported by diplomats.Josefina Vidal Ferreiro, director general for the United States of Minrex, emphasized to the press that the Government of Cuba has no responsibility in the alleged facts and it fulfills seriously and rigorously its obligations with the Convention of Vienna on Diplomatic Relations. We consider that the decision announced by the State Department is hasty and will affect bilateral relations.

Worldwide nuclear disarmament is one of the oldest goals of the United Nations and one of the aspirations and basic principles of the foreign policy of the Republic of Cuba, which has maintained a   consistent position on the prohibition and elimination of weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear weapons. General disarmament, full and immediate, under a strict and effective control, is a priority in the international arena.

 

Prime Minister of Jamaica meets with Cuban Ambassador

KINGSTON, Jamaica, September 27th, 2017. Prime Minister of Jamaica, Andrew Holness, welcomed this morning, the Cuban Ambassador, Bernardo Guanche Hernandez, who´s ending his tour of duty in this Caribbean nation.

During the friendly meeting, carried out in the Office of the Prime Minister, both parts expressed the satisfaction for the excellent level of the bilateral relations and the cooperation in different areas.

Peace Council of Jamaica issues statement on the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons

KINGSTON, JAMAICA, September 26th, 2017.The Peace Council of Jamaica made a public statement urging all the governments from Latin America and the Caribbean to act in correspondence with the Declaration of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) to preserve the region as Zone of Peace, through the signature and ratification of the Treaty for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, launched by United Nations last September 20th, 2017.
