Statement by Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, at the presentation of the National Report of Cuba to the fourth cycle of the Universal Periodic Review of the Human Rights Council. Geneva, November 15, 2023.

For the fourth time, Cuba is presenting a report to the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of the Human Rights Council. The national report that we are presenting today is the result of a broad and participatory process of consultations with government institutions and organizations of our civil society. Of the 226 recommendations accepted during the former Universal Periodic Review, 215 -that is, 95 per cent- have been implemented.  We are making progress in the implementation of the other 11.

Vietnam’s sending donation of rice to Cuba from Ho Chi Minh City

A donation of 1,200 tons of rice from the Communist Party, the State, and the people of Ho Chi Minh City is ready at the Cat Lai port on Wednesday to be shipped to Cuba.

We are delighted to express that this donation keeps alive that feeling and solidarity that are unique, as the unusual ties and brotherhood existing between our two countries, Ariadne Feo Labrada, Consul General of Cuba in Ho Chi Minh City, said.

Cuba stands in solidarity with the Palestinian people

A number of solidarity with Palestine events have taken place over the past several days in Havana and throughout the island -- condemning the relentless attacks against Gaza being carried out by the Zionist regime of Israel. 

At the main offices of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, ICAP, hundreds gathered earlier this week to express their support for the struggle of the Palestinian people. 

Another demonstration of solidarity was held on Friday, organized by the students and workers of the Higher Institute of International Relations "Raúl Roa García."

Vietnamese President values documentary series on ties with Cuba

Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong highly valued the efforts of the Ministries of Defense of his country and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba for the making of the documentary Two Hearts in One Heartbeat. The connection between the noble revolutionary ideals and the desire to fight for independence, freedom and national liberation fostered sympathy and understanding between the peoples of Vietnam and Cuba, creating a special and beautiful symbolic relationship, he stressed.

Statement of the Group of 77 and China on agenda item 59: Permanent sovereignty of the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem, and of the Arab population in the occupied Syrian Golan over their natural resources

The Group welcomes the SG report on “Economic and social repercussions of the Israeli occupation on the living conditions of the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem, and of the Arab population in the occupied Syrian Golan”, contained in document (A/78/127–E/2023/95), which highlights the detrimental effect of the protracted Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territory and the Syrian Golan on the living conditions of the Palestinian and Syrian populations, as well as on social and economic development in the occupied territories.
