Cuba sends solidarity message to the people and government of Australia

Havana, January 16, 2020. The President of the National Assembly and the Council of State of Cuba, Esteban Lazo Hernández, has sent a message to the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Australia, Tony Smith, expressing his deep sorrow at the consequences of the devastating fires in that country.

Lazo Hernández regretted the loss of human lives, the damage to the nation's ecosystem, the death of millions of animals and the severe economic damage caused by this major disaster.

Dublin, January 2020. Cuba's ambassador to Ireland, Hugo René Ramos Milanés held a working meeting with the Director of the newly released Directorate of Latin America and the Caribbean of the Irish Foreign Ministry. Ambassador Barbara Jones, a concurrent in Havana, also participated.

The occasion was conducive to a brief assessment of the state of bilateral ties, which in 2019 commemorated the 20th anniversary of its establishment.

The Cuban ambassador to Malaysia met with Mr. Azri Mat Yacob, director of communication and public diplomacy of the Malaysian Foreign Ministry to review the plan of activities with a view to commemorating the 45th anniversary of the establishment of relations diplomats with this Southeast Asian country.

A day like today in 1960, during the celebration of the twentieth anniversary of the Speleological Society of Cuba, in the auditorium of the Academy of Medical, Physical and Natural Sciences of Havana, the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro gave a historic speech in which he emphasized: "The future of our Homeland has to be, necessarily, a future of men of science, of men of thought". This date has been chosen to commemorate the Cuban Science Day.

On the occasion of the New Year's Reception hosted by the Federal President of Austria, Dr. Alexander Van der Bellen, to the Diplomatic Corps accredited in this country; the Cuban Ambassador, Her Excellency, Mrs. Loipa Sánchez Lorenzo extensively talked to the President and the authorities of the newly elected coalition government of Austria, composed of the People´s Party (ÖVP, by its German initials) and the Green Party.

The Government of Cuba Awards Medical Scholarships to Belizean Students

Yesterday, January 13, 2022, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology in partnership with the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Belize and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Immigration held a ceremony at the House of Culture to give recognition to thirteen recipients of the Cuba-Belize Scholarship Programme 2022. Of the thirteen recipients, ten will be majoring in medicine, two in nursing and one in psychology.

Minister of Health of Sri Lanka received the Cuban Ambassador

SRI LANKA, January 13, 2020. - The Honorable Pavithra Devi Wanniarachchi, Minister for Women and Childs Affairs, Social Security, Health and Indigenous Medicine of Sri Lanka received the Ambassador of Cuba, Juana Elena Ramos Rodríguez, at the headquarters of that Ministry.

During the meeting, both parties exchanged on various topics of bilateral interest particularly on the possibilities of expanding collaboration between both countries in the fields of health and pharmaceuticals.

The meeting took place in a friendly and fraternal environment.
