Ambassador of Cuba thanks African Union's position against the blockade

The Cuban Ambassador to Ghana, Pedro Luis Despaigne González, was interviewed at the Embassy's premises by a team from the TV station Kantanka TV, related to the 56th Anniversary of the African Union.

During the interview conducted by journalist Samuel Amoateng, the Cuban diplomat made reference to historical relations with Africa and the AU, and to the legacy of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro, in the construction of bonds of solidarity with the Post-colonial African states.

Sligo, May, 2019. The city of Sligo was the site of the Irish national commemoration of the victims of the great famine that struck Ireland between 1845 and 1850.

The great famine not only caused nearly one million victims, but another million people had to emigrate looking for new opportunities to the most varied latitudes.

Today several tens of millions of people in the world recognize their Irish origin.

Executive Secretary of the ECA received the Cuban Ambassador to the AU

Addis Ababa, May 21, 2019.  The Cuban Ambassador to the African Union, H.E.  Ángel Villa was receiveb by the Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Africa, H.E. Mrs. Vera Songwe, at the headquarters of that organizaction in this capital.

In a friendly environment both authorities coincided on the value of the Cuban cooperation to Africa in nearly 60 years.  Mrs. Songwe highlighted the importance of the Cuban contribution at the time of the Ebola crisis in West Africa and proposed ways to expand the exchanges between Cuba and the ECA.

Meeting between the Ministers of Health of Cuba and Egypt

Within the framework of the 72nd World Health Assembly held in Geneva from May 20 to 28, 2019. José Angel Portal Miranda, Minister of Health of Cuba held a meeting with his Egyptian counterpart Hala Zaid. During the meeting, which took place in a friendly and cooperative atmosphere, topics of common interest on the bilateral agenda between the two countries were discussed. This meeting reaffirms the mutual will of both governments to continue strengthening the ties between our nations.
