Varadero beach resort untouched by fire in Matanzas, Cuba

Matanzas, 6 August 2022. The Varadero beach resort, Cuba's main sun and beach destination, is operating normally today despite a large fire at an oil tank base in the neighboring city of Matanzas that is 34 kilometers west of tourist center.

This was confirmed to Prensa Latina by tourist guide Omar Oramas, from the Ecotur agency, who is in charge of a group of French vacationers.

Cuba: FMC announces activities for its 62nd anniversary

Havana, 4 August 2022. The Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) will reach its 62nd anniversary on August 23 amid the difficult situation the country is living, but making progress in the aspirations of this sector, assured its secretary general.

At a press conference on Wednesday in Havana, Teresa Amarelle Boue, member of the political bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba and secretary general of the FMC, announced that the main event of the celebration would be held in the province of Cienfuegos.

A light of sincere love

Cuba to produce vital injectable antibiotics

Havana, 2 August 2022. Cuba will start up a cephalosporin plant to produce a series of injectable beta-lactam antibiotics that are widely used in intensive therapies.

Among them are antimicrobials Meropenem, Ceftriaxone (Rocephin), Cefotaxime, Cefazolin, Cefuroxime, Ceftazidime and Cefepime.

According to Granma newspaper, the plant should start producing those antibiotics before ending 2022, and it will be the only one of this kind in the country.
