On October 20, 1968, the Cuban National Anthem was written, and sung for the first time, during the festivities for the capture of the city of Bayamo by the Cuban independence troops. With a marked patriotic character, La Bayamesa, the name with which the song was known, is a call to the fight for the independence and sovereignty of the country. Since then, the National Anthem is an expression of the most deeply rooted pro-independence and patriotic values of the Cuban people, as well as the most genuine sense of nation and Cuban roots.

With the screening of the feature film "El Benny" concluded today the celebration of the Cuban Film Exibition Jakarta 2018, Cuban Revolution: 60 years of action without cut! organized by the Embassy of the Island in greeting to the National Culture Day and the 60th Anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, in cooperation with the cultural organization [ESAS] Empu Sendok Arts Station.

The Embassy of Cuba celebrated today the National Culture Day coinciding with the closing of the Jakarta Cuban Cinema Exhibition 2018, Cuban Revolution: 60 years of action without cut! that took place during the last 5 days in this capital, in collaboration with the cultural organization [ESAS] Empu Sendok Arts Station. Present at the ceremony were members of the Diplomatic Corps, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, friends of the Embassy and representatives of the press that covered the celebration.

October offers two important anniversaries in the history of Cuba, the beginning of the country's wars of independence and national Cuban Culture Day

On October 18, 1868, the taking of Bayamo by the Liberation Army was begun, and at 11:00pm on the 20th, Spanish authorities signed their capitulation.

The activities of the Day of the National Culture, which are organized in Austria, began yesterday with a celebration, led by Cubans residing in this country at the emblematic Danzón club, located in the center of Vienna. The Ambassador of Cuba, Juan Antonio Fernández Palacios and the personnel of diplomatic mission accredited to this country; in addition to the delegation of the Ministry of Justice of Cuba, headed by Deputy Minister Rosabel Gamón Verde (who has a is executing a working program in Vienna) attended the event.

Cork, October 2018. Alexis, as we Cubans affectionately call him, offered his contagious art of improvisation to the city of Cork, in the south of Ireland, in front of students, academics and the general public.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba in the Republic of Azerbaijan, Alfredo Nieves Portuondo, participated in the opening of the personal exhibition of the Azeri national artist, Arif Huseynov, held at the Museum of the State Academy of Art of this Caucasian nation .

The Cuban diplomat congratulated the artist, who is also the president of the Azerbaijan-Cuba Friendship Association, and wished him on behalf of the Cuban people health and success in his personal and professional life.

Izmir, Turkey, October 19, 2018. As part of the activities planned to celebrate Cuba's Culture Day in the three main cities of Turkey, around 300 Turkish citizens attended the screening of the documentary "Cubanas, mujeres en revolución ", filmed by the Antillean director María Torrellas.  This event was held in a well-known cultural center in the city of Izmir.

Jakarta, October 19, 2018. The ambassador of Cuba, Nirsia Castro Guevara, received today Johni Asadoma, president of the Indonesian Boxing Association, to discuss the reopening of a cooperation project in boxing.

With the presence of Aleida Guevara March, the launching of the Thai edition of the memorable book in the popular "Bangkok National Book Fair" commemorated the 90th birth anniversary of Ernesto Guevara de la Serna (Che), the 51st anniversary of his physical disappearance and the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Cuba.
