Prime Minister of Belize insists on the US lifting blockade on Cuba
Paramaribo, 4 July 2022. Belizean Prime Minister John Briceño insisted on the need for the United States to lift the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba more than 60 years ago.
Briceño also described this policy as illegal during his speech at the opening on Sunday of the 43rd Summit of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), based in this capital.
French academic: the US blockade against Cuba is intact
Paris, 30 June 2022. French academic Salim Lamrani considered that the changes announced by the US government regarding Cuba do not reverse the essence of the blockade imposed or the damage it causes to its inhabitants.
“The backbone of the economic sanctions remains intact, it constitutes the main obstacle to (Cuba’s) development, makes life difficult for all Cubans and inflicts arbitrary suffering,” the university professor and essayist said in dialogue with Prensa Latina.
Cuban deputy minister: education advances in Cuba despite blockade
Paris, 29 June 2022. The First Deputy Minister of Education of Cuba, Cira Piñeiro, said that the Cuban education system maintains its development, despite the impact of the blockade imposed by the United States.
More people have received Covid-19 booster doses in Cuba
Havana, 29 June 2022. The Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) on Wednesday reported that 7,392,481 people have received the booster shot against Covid-19.
According to MINSAP, 9,973,519 Cubans, that is, 90 percent of the population, have already been fully vaccinated.
So far, 10,678,990 citizens have received a dose of homegrown vaccines; 9,415,736 have already received the second dose; and 9,117,897 the third shot.
