Cuba will continue to defend, firmly and consistently, the Charter of the United Nations and International Law and will remain committed to the postulates of the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace.
The celebration of Spanish Day at the UN, a GAE dialogue for the defense of the Spanish language.
On the occasion of the celebration, on April 23 of Spanish Language Day, the Group of Friends of Spanish of the United Nations, GAE, convened the event: "Our Spanish. Challenges and perspectives in the current era", a call to reflect, protect and defend our language in the face of the growing challenges facing the Spanish language.
Cuba participates in the United Nations Forum on Financing for Development.
The Forum of the Economic and Social Council on monitoring financing for development, began at UN. With the mandate to review the Addis Ababa Action Agenda, and fundamental to refer to the financing needs of developing countries, as well as the means of implementing the Sustainable Development Goals, Cuba participates in a national capacity and as president of G-77 and China.
Group 77 and China highlights support of United Nations Office for Project Services.
Cuba praised the work and support of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) to developing countries and to the management of the Secretariat of the G77 and China. The above mentioned was expressed by Ambassador Pedro Luis Pedroso Cuesta, acting as Chair of the G77 and China, during meeting with Mr. Jens Wandel, executive director a.i. of UNOPS.
Cuba reaffirms compromise with United Nations disarmament mechanism.
During general debate of UN Disarmament Commission, Gerardo Peñalver Portal, first deputy minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, reaffirmed the compromise of his country with the United Nations mechanism to disarmament.
